Kinamax FAN-NTP3 Business Notebook Cooler Pad with Three Built-in 60 mm Fans for Laptops

I have not purchased this product yet, but I really want to – one problem is that I have a question that everyone has failed to answer with their reviews… My question is – is this item made of metal or plastic? There is an identical one – well at the pictures are the same – called “USB Powered and Most Efficient Metal Cooler Pad with 3 Built-in Fans for Laptop Computer” by Dekcell also sold on Amazon. The pictures are identical but the descriptions do not match up?? Could someone who has purchased this item clarify this for me – I would greatly appreciate it.. THANKS!!!

I tested this cooling pad under a variety of conditions to measure whether it truly made a difference and was surprised to find that temps on my Apple MacBook Pro MB471LL/A 15.4-Inch Laptop (2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, Slot Loading SuperDrive) actually rose when I used it.
I tested by performing tasks like permissions repair, copying files over my local network, watching YouTube videos, playing iTunes, and running disk tests with Summitsoft Disk Tools Pro (Mac) and measuring the temps with the free iStat Pro widget. The enclosure base temps didn’t budge, but the CPU and CPU heatsink temps actually rose by several degrees when I plugged the Kinamax into the Macbook Pro’s USB port. When the cooling pad wasn’t being used, temps did not rise as quickly. I am guessing that the USB power draw from the Kinamax cooling pad caused temps to increase, a counter-productive result.
The Kinamax is also loud, especially when compared to the nearly silent operation of the Apple laptop. My guess is that the cooling pad would be much, much quieter if a single large fan was used instead of the three smaller fans.
On some positive notes, the cooling pad has an On/Off switch, it is among the least expensive available, and its rubber feet effectively prevent it from scratching either the laptop placed on top of it or the surface on which it is placed.
I returned the Kinamax and will continue my search for an effective cooling pad.

The cooling pad has the fans too close together on the top and they do not cover the areas of my laptop that needs it the most(the area around the mouse pad). I like the small elevation of the pad, it gives me a little bit of comfort while I’m typing. It is a bit noisier than expected, but I can survive it. I consider it is a fairly good buy for the price.

I sure have enjoyed my laptop fan. It nice and light and quite.
The price was great. I saved over $4.00. Walmart didn’t even have
a cheaper one.

It cools my laptop. My laptop is quiet old thats why it shuts down sometimes when the fan is running..
Good Buy. I will recommend it.
