It has a solid hard cover and a strap to hold the notebook closed. It also includes a folder in the back cover to hold small pieces of paper. I am constantly drawing diagrams and doing math required for work so the graph paper is wonderful. I would recommend this notebook to anyone who would like to add a little style to their note taking! Unfortunately, it isn't what I was looking for and has too few pages for the price. I saw a similar product someone had and they told me it was a "Moleskine", but it was probably a clone since the dimensions were a bit different and it easily had over twice the pages. <br /> <br />It's ok, I've had to change what I was going to use it for, and it still will be useful. It has a soft pleather cover like a motel bible. I was dissappointed when I received it because I was expecting one just like the one I just used up.
