I think it is strange how we always cling to what Dr. Sears has to say. He is a doctor just like the doctors that actually take a stance and say vaccines are harmful. Yet we scrutinize the doctor who states the truth and praise those who either stay neutral because it is too controversial or say to vaccinate because there isn’t enough evidence. How many children must be harmed before there is enough evidence for doctors to take a stance against vaccinations. At least I know my child won’t be another statistic among those harmed by vaccines. I hope your’s isn’t either.

I love the Sears family books and am looking forward to this one. But, how have those of you who reviewed it read it? It isn’t released in Pennsylvania yet.

DR SEARS PUTS IT ALL OUT ON THE TABLE THESE ARE THE RISKS ARE TAKING IF YOU VACCINATE YOUR CHILDREN. SAYING THAT I DO NOT VACCINATE MY CHILDREN AND NEITHER DOES DR ROBERT SEARS. I THINK WHAT MAKES HIM A GREAT DR IS THAT HE GIVES ME THE CHOICE NOT TO VACCINATE MY CHILDREN. THE MAJORITY OF PEDIATRICIANS HIGHLY DISCOURAGE IT. ITS UP TO A PARENT TO DO THE RESEARCH AND DECIDE FOR THEM SELF. SO DONT LISTEN TO WHAT YOUR DOCTOR SAYS DO THE RESEARCH YOUR SELF, AND I ALSO RECOMMEND READING THE BOOKS THAT THE ABOVE COMMENT SUGGESTED. I JUST PRAY THAT DOCTORS AND SCIENTIST OUT THERE DO FIND A SAFE WAY TO VACCINATE OUR CHILDREN BECAUSE THE SAD BOTTOM LINE IS: IT IS BECAUSE OTHER CHILDREN ARE VACCINATED THAT I DONT HAVE TO VACCINATE MINE. SO IF EVERY CHILD DID NOT GET VACCINATED WE WOULD HAVE THOSE TERRIBLE CHILDHOOD DECEASES ON THE RISE.

This is an unfortunate attempt to exploit the panic and fear regarding childhood vaccinations. The author has done no scientific studies himself and selectively references studies that are poorly done or taken out of context. He also suggests complicated vaccination schedules that have not been researched to demonstrate their efficacy or lack thereof. I suggest every physician who is struggling with parents refusing to protect their children by vaccination read this book (get a used copy) in order to counter Dr. Sears arguments. The CDC and AAP have much better information on their websites regarding vaccines, and I refer parents to those sites for information as well as handing out a comprehensive information booklet to them. This is yet another economic exploitation of the Lunatic Fringe.

Dr. Sears comes off knowledgable because he is. As a physician myself I feel he should know better. There are multiple references in the book where he says we’re not going to talk about the dangers of it because it’s been discussed. I have to admit the book is well written, but you can see and read between the lines that his agenda is not to present a fair review of vaccinations, but to be a spokesman for the drug industry. That’s his choice, but don’t hide behind the appearance of “fair and impartial”. Dr. L.
